Youth Development Coordinator
Job Description:
GEMS is seeking to hire a dynamic and creative Youth Development Coordinator to plan,
organize and implement a variety of youth programming within GEMS’ current youth
development programs. The Youth Development Coordinator will design and implement
new strategies to address GEMS members’ long term needs and actively engage them.
The Youth Development Coordinator will use strength based youth development strategies
in building program and in every day interactions one-on-one with youth.
The successful
candidate will enjoy working with youth members one-on-one and in groups, to help
them discover their strengths, interests, and in thinking about their futures in
positive ways. The successful candidate will work as a team member with other staff
to meet the needs of our members.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate, train and

etc)

Street Outreach Worker
Job Description:
GEMS is seeking highly committed and responsible individuals to provide outreach
to victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking. 15 hours per week, mostly nights,
some weekends required.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide street and court outreach to sexually exploited and trafficked youth and
high risk
populations
- Build relationships of trust with youth and distribute informational materials
- Identify victims and provide crisis intervention and individual referrals for trafficked
youth
- Act as liaison between GEMS and law enforcement, the courts and outside agencies
- Be responsible for monthly paperwork, including assisting in statistical input

Program Director
Job Description:
Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) seeks a Program Director to oversee
the agency’s direct services with sexually exploited girls and young women, including
crisis and transitional housing, case management, support groups, defender-based
alternative sentencing and youth programming.
GEMS seeks a Program Director with
strong supervision experience, who is systems oriented, who will ensure high quality
of program delivery, and is passionate about supporting girls and young women exiting
the commercial sex industry.
The Program Director will oversee a team of direct service
departments and be responsible for program delivery, outcomes measurement and tracking
as well as strategizing about new programming and meeting emerging needs of sexually
exploited youth.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Program Director will:
- Oversee the
structure and operation of programs and day-to-day activities
- Monitor monthly statistics,
case notes and provide evaluation reports on a monthly basis
- Compile Board updates
on a monthly basis
- Keep staff and volunteers updated on various policy issues and
on individual members’ cases
- Monitor and guide staff and interns including participating
in performance evaluations

Residential Counselor
Job Description:
Evening/Weekend Shift positions
The Residential Counselor is responsible for the
operations of the home and creating a family-like atmosphere that supports the development
of the residents and is part of a team of professionals. They perform their duties
relatively free from direct supervision, acting at all times in a professional manner.
This position is focused primarily upon serving the youth of the program through
advancing the mission of the organization. The position requires participation in
trainings, satisfied through in-house programs offered by GEMS or third party providers.
The position will have at least an annual performance evaluation. While working within
a home team schedule, staff will be required to be flexible with regard to the seven
day a week needs of the GEMS TIL residents.
I. Youth Development
a. Know and follow
GEMS program policies and procedures regarding the care and development of residents
b. Assume responsibility for residents in the TIL house, including daily decisions
regarding health, safety, and discipline
c. Responsible for physical, emotional,
social, spiritual, and academic development of residents in accordance with individual
service plans and GEMS program policies
II. Academics
a. Provide individual assistance
and tutoring as needed.
b. Assist in college preparation of each resident as needed.
III. Household Management
a. Assure the home functions in accordance with GEMS program
and local licensing standards
b. Ensure that maintenance needs are communicated for
all program property
c. Assist residents as necessary to maintain a clean and safe
environment, and for home to function including cooking, cleaning, shopping, and
driving
IV. Administrative and Record Keeping
a. Complete required documentation
of activities in a timely and accurate fashion
b. Properly track and document all
approved expenses (laundry log, emergency needs etc.)
V. Community Relations
a. Role
model for resident’s positive relations with neighbors, community groups, schools,
authorities, peers and parents of scholars

Girls Are Not For Sale Campaign Coordinator
Job Description:
The Girls Are Not For Sale Campaign Coordinator will serve as the point person for
activities supporting the campaign designed to raise awareness of commercial sexual
exploitation and domestic trafficking of girls and young women in the United States.
The centrepiece of the campaign is the documentary Very Young Girls, a film following
the stories of youth survivors in New York City.
The Coordinator will:
1) implement intentional efforts for the use of the films by
organizations, groups, and individual activists, and
2) expand interest and develop
additional partnerships with other relevant activist/public policy campaigns and
additional key stakeholders.
Additional tasks will include:
- Develop interest and use of the films on college
and university campuses, community groups, and organizations interested in raising
awareness of the commercial sexual exploitation/domestic trafficking of girls and
young women
- Work closely with partner organizations to screen the film
- Coordinate
and provide support for independent screening events.
- Coordinate the dissemination
of the DVD and support materials.
- Participate in web site content development and
content management.
- Participate in the development and implementation of an evaluation
plan.
- Support the sales and development of companion products
- Work with GEMS
staff and an independent writer to create published materials and reports and updates
related to outreach.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability
to support, articulate the mission of each campaign and effectively engage diverse
audiences.
- Excellent planning, administrative and organizational skills; previous
experience working on multi-city collaborations or coalitions preferred. Substantial
experience in one or more of the following fields: grassroots community organizing,
non-profit/public interest program management, film/television outreach, civic dialogue,
or political campaign work.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative leadership
style; the ability to foster communication and teamwork among staff and partners
working in various locations.
